Joshua Winterborn was born with a silver spoon in his hand. Born to a rich family, living in the suburbs of Paragon City, his future was already written for him. Ivy league schools, a doctorate, and then a steady job and marriage to some debutante. But Josh rebelled against his parents' strict ways, and moved to Paragon City proper. Disowned by his family, he was forced to live a meager life in King's Row.

However, all that changed one day, when he returned home from his job at the Super Mart, to find a giant mechanical suit in his living room where once his couch had been. The only clue he found to its sudden arrival was a note attached to the suit's chest. "For Joshua Winterborn. From the future. Make us proud. Sorry about the couch." With these cryptic words, Josh began his life as the super hero, Future's Past.
