Melinda "Minx" Pierce prided herself on being independent. An only child from the wrong side of Paragon City, she learned early on how to defend herself from bullies.

Later in life, she had to defend herself from much worse as her neighborhood turned downright deadly. Alone on the streets and homeless, she did what she could to scrape by, including participating in scientific studies. One day, after returning home, her skin began to itch unbearably. Desperate, she returned to the medical laboratory only to find it deserted. That was the first time her spines erupted in anger, but it will not be the last.

She still does not understand what caused her change, how it operates, or how it may evolve in the future. Someday, she hopes to find those who caused her new condition and give them and up-close demonstration of how her powers work.
