Vodoun
Street Soldier
Style: Blaster (Rifle/Devices)
Origin: Science
Full Name: Christopher Colombus Fethiere
Christopher Colombus Fethiere nearly ended his career in his first skirmish-
a fight he wasn't even looking for. Chris's career began when his friend
Alex decided to join a local gang- the Skulls. Chris knew gangs were bad-
he saw the fear on the faces of his neighbors whenever a gangster was
nearby. Even his parents- brave, proud, people who had left Haiti looking
for a better life - feared the gangs. It ripped him apart to see that
hollow look of defeat in their eyes. The last thing Chris wanted was to
lose a friend to the ranks of the Skulls.
Chris walked straight up to Alex- right past a couple of glaring Skulls-
and was trying to get through to him when one of the older Skulls grabbed
a passing scrawny old man and started to threaten him.
Until that moment, Chris had never believed his parents stories of vodoun
(or, as it is known in the states- voodoo)- stories of Loa that could
take possession of a man, leaving him powerless to control his actions.
But as Chris watched the Skulls go to work on that little old man, he
found his perspective forced out of his body by a stronger presence. He
watched helplessly as his body sprung into action under the will this
stronger force- beating back skull after skull until he received a vicious
club to the head- dealt by his old friend, Alex.
When Chris awoke, he found himself staring into the... well, sensors...
of a small animatronic creature that immediately scurried away. The creature
was replaced by the old man that Chris had tried to defend. With a kind
smile, he introduced himself as Sebastian, and explained that he was an
inventor, and that his robotic friends had arrived just as Chris had gone
down. Over the next few weeks, Sebastian nursed Chris back to health,
and worked to create a few inventions that would give Chris an edge the
next time he found himself overtaken by spirits.
This would have been a happy time for Chris, had not Sebastians's behavior
grown increasingly erratic, punctuated with bouts of shouting at his robots.
Things finally came to a head after two months, when Sebastian forcefully
pushed Chris out of the apartment, with a duffle bag of gadgets, insisting
that "My robots don't like you anymore." |
